High-Level Overview of Learning

What does learning look like in this stream?

Overall focus

The Therapeutics stream documents comprehensive, condition‑specific knowledge, clinical assessment and therapeutic planning across Years 1–3, spanning self‑care and respiratory topics through organ/system therapeutics and complex population care. Skills include patient assessment, guideline‑based plan development, therapeutic drug monitoring, literature appraisal and collaborative practice; attitudes emphasize equity, empathy and lifelong learning.

Development across years

Documented progression shifts from foundational/minor‑ailment topics in Year 1 to organ‑system and guideline‑based therapeutic knowledge in Year 2 and then to complex/population‑focused therapeutics in Year 3. Delivery and assessment documentation move from lecture‑dominant Year‑1 formats toward more seminar/case work, labs/clinic activities and varied applied assessments in later years.

How to read this curriculum portrait

Top-line metrics summarize the selected academic cycle. Within each curriculum portrait figure, Years 1, 2 and 3 are shown separately so reviewers can compare the same program year across available academic cycles. No Overall distribution is shown.

Relationships with other streams

These summaries identify documented areas of shared or adjacent curriculum with the other program streams.

BASE

Professional, regulatory and health-system context

Across Years 1–3 Therapeutics connects around pharmacy law and regulatory issues, patient and professional communication, evidence‑based therapeutic decision making and drug information that align with BASE content. The documented course outcomes, session listings and mappings additionally show shared emphasis on leadership/management, healthcare systems and economics, quality improvement, public health and health advocacy.

Pharmaceutical Sciences

Scientific foundations for pharmacy practice

Therapeutics in 2025–26 documents extensive clinical and practice‑skill content that aligns with Pharmaceutical Sciences fundamentals in pharmacology, PK/PD, pharmaceutics and toxicology across topics such as respirology, cardiology, infectious disease, oncology and neurology. The documented overlap is shown in course outcomes, session lists, assessment summaries and framework mappings supplied for the academic cycle.

Practice Skills

Patient care, communication and applied practice

Across the 2025–26 cycle, Therapeutics documents extensive condition‑focused knowledge and applied therapeutic decision‑making that connects with Practice Skills in patient assessment/pharmacotherapy work‑up, care‑plan development and monitoring, documentation, communication and some injection training. The stream‑level portraits and session inventories present Therapeutics topic blocks and assessments that overlap with Practice Skills’ applied labs and OSCE‑style evaluations.

These relationships reflect documented curriculum portraits and governed cross-stream evidence. They identify shared or adjacent curriculum territory but do not by themselves demonstrate intentional coordination, integration, sequencing quality or curriculum quality.

How learning is delivered
Learning is organized around in‑person lectures for content delivery and seminar/case sessions for applied problem solving, with some asynchronous materials and occasional clinic‑style activities. Students absorb disease‑specific knowledge in lectures and then practice management through PBL/TBL seminars, lab‑value interpretation exercises and integrated case presentations. Distinctive activities across years include an in‑person BP screening clinic, pre‑recorded preparatory content, and group presentations followed by expert debriefs.

How learning is assessed
Students are expected to demonstrate accurate therapeutic knowledge under timed conditions, consistent pre‑class preparation, and applied case management skills. The characteristic assessment mix includes proctored computer‑based midterms and finals with MCQ and short‑answer items, frequent seminar/quizzes with explicit windows and absence policies, and numerous applied artifacts—care plans, documentation uploads, brief seminar assignments and group presentations—that assess clinical reasoning and communication. Participation tasks and structured peer review capture professional engagement; some courses use explicit policies to reallocate marks for excused absences.

About this Evidence

Where did this information come from, and how was it prepared?

What information is included

This curriculum portrait brings together the curriculum records available for the selected stream and academic cycle. These include course information and learning outcomes, documented sessions and topics, assessment information, and links to the CCAPP and AFPC curriculum frameworks.

The amount of descriptive detail varies across academic cycles because the underlying source material is not identical. Current-cycle records are drawn largely from syllabus information, while some earlier-cycle records come from legacy curriculum data that contain less narrative detail. Missing information is left visible rather than filled in.

How topics are connected to curriculum frameworks

Documented curriculum topics are matched to CCAPP curriculum categories with OpenAI assistance. A topic can be matched to more than one CCAPP category when it clearly relates to more than one area.

CCAPP categories are linked to AFPC professional roles. Those links are used to show the AFPC role patterns in the curriculum portrait. These profiles describe where curriculum content is documented. They do not show instructional time, student achievement, or preparedness for practice.

How the charts and percentages are calculated

The values in the charts are calculated directly from the curriculum records. AI-generated text does not calculate these numbers. Each chart is based on a different type of evidence, so percentages from different charts should not be compared as though they use the same starting point.

Learning outcomes
Shows the share of classified learning outcomes identified as Knowledge, Skills or Attitudes.
AFPC roles
Shows the share of all curriculum links to AFPC professional roles.
CCAPP topics
Shows the share of all curriculum links to CCAPP topic categories. One documented topic can contribute to more than one category.
Delivery
Uses instructional hours when session-duration information is complete enough for comparison. Otherwise it shows the number of documented sessions.
Assessment
Uses assessment weight when comparable weighting information is complete enough. Otherwise it shows the number of documented assessments.

The year-by-year profiles are descriptive comparisons. A visible difference between years does not, by itself, mean that an educationally important change occurred.

How the written summaries are created

The written summaries are built in steps so that broad descriptions remain connected to the underlying curriculum records. Detailed session and assessment information is first organized into summaries for each stream and program year. Those summaries are then used to create the overall stream descriptions shown to reviewers.

AI-assisted writing is used to help produce concise reviewer-facing descriptions from these prepared evidence summaries. It does not calculate the charts or decide whether the curriculum is good, coherent, effective, or whether students have achieved the intended outcomes.

The written summaries are prepared before the report is displayed. Opening or browsing this report does not send a new request to an AI service.

How missing or incomplete information is shown

When the available records are incomplete, the report shows that limitation rather than making an assumption. Examples include missing session duration, incomplete assessment weighting, and older course or assessment records that do not contain the same descriptive detail as newer syllabus-derived records.

For relationships between streams, the same evidence rule is applied from either direction. If there is not enough information to describe a relationship for a particular year and cycle, both stream views show that limitation consistently.
